Manchester United Poised to Sign Germany Striker Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants

Manchester United are finalising sealing the deal for prolific German striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.

A Marquee Acquisition for United

The forward, with half a year left on her contract, has been a prolific goal-getter for both club and country. She has scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. This signing is viewed as a major signing for the Women’s Super League side.

Departure from Munich was expected after she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the German club’s supporters after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.

Reports in December that the German women's top flight was set to lose one of its leading strikers. According to multiple sources, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.

Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen United's Forward Line

The experienced striker's signing is expected to provide a major uplift to United’s attacking options. Schüller has been highly reliable with her finishing in the Bundesliga.

• For seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the last term, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
• She claimed the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

The acquisition of the German international comes at a time when United appear to be building momentum.

Recent on-pitch successes include securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

1. The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
2. The new deal for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since arriving in 2023.
