Nearly 25,000 Experiencing Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Weather Systems

Around 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland woke up without power on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, producing wind gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Ice Stones and Extensive Damage

Locals reported giant hailstones as large as seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by significant hail.

Utility workers were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the widespread outages.

Victoria's Weather Woes

At the same time, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area recorded its wettest day in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along large portions of Queensland's east this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with ongoing storm activity anticipated across different parts of both areas.

Medical authorities alerted that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the current weather patterns.
