Paceman Gus Atkinson Compounds England's Injury Concerns.

'Significant concern' for the touring side as Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer increased the injury concerns plaguing England after leaving the field early on day two of the Boxing Day Test against Australia.

The pace bowler experienced discomfort in his hamstring after the final ball in his spell at the MCG.

The touring camp indicated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and would spend time off the field for further assessment "during the day".

The concluding match in this Ashes battle in Sydney starts on Sunday, 4 January.

England have previously lost strike bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and Jofra Archer because of a side injury during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party as cover for Wood.

Atkinson struggled early in the series, managing only three wickets.

He was left out from the previous Test, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, claiming a couple of wickets in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs while batting as one of just three England players to get into double digits.

After bowling one over late on the first day, he returned on Saturday morning and removed Scott Boland edging to the keeper.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of his spell, he sent down a variation to the batsman and promptly felt at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test having missed the Adelaide game.
