The skiing legend Confident of Being 'in prime form' for Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics

Legendary skier Lindsey Vonn has declared she will be "perfectly prepared" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, following claiming a podium spot for the fourth time in her last five World Cup events.

The 41-year-old, who last week set a record by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, came in third place in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This was her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup podium finish.

Impressive Performance in Val d'Isere

Returning to the iconic venue for the first time in eight years, Vonn finished the course in a time of one minute 20.60 seconds. She was just over a third of a second behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing second place.

"I didn't quite have the right line on the first jump," Vonn remarked. "Subsequently, I performed strongly. I'm happy with my performance today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious."

This result was her second podium at Val d'Isere during the event, having also finished third in the downhill on Saturday.

An Incredible Return from Retirement

Vonn ended her career in early 2019 because of persistent injuries. However, she staged a competitive comeback in late 2024 after a major knee surgery.

With just over six weeks remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are set to run from February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are timely.

She has an Olympic gold and two bronze medals from previous Games and is strongly positioned to compete for the United States at the 2026 Games.

"At the Olympics, I will be fully ready," Vonn affirmed.

Chasing More Titles

Alongside her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four overall crystal globes she has secured over a career spanning two decades.

She currently holds a 69-point lead at the top of the overall downhill standings and is ranked fifth in the super-G World Cup table.

This season's World Cup circuit features a nine more events scheduled before the circuit finale in Kvitfjell, Norway on March 21st, 2026.
