The Two Fatalities Identified in the Providence Campus Incident as Authorities Continue Manhunt for Gunman.

Two students who died in the weekend's tragic incident in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their killer carried on following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also shared sympathies on social media, stating: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

His name was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male detained in a search at a lodging about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” said the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “It is expected to provoke renewed concern for our community”.

The shooter opened fire inside a room in the engineering facility on over the weekend, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a police source told the Associated Press.

Police that searched the hotel found a pair of pistols and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was detained, the news agency reported.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, one pupil was released from the hospital, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in serious yet stable state, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.

A private school, a independent school in North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

Cook was honored at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only in her youth... but at Brown she was an incredible light in that specific location as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the organization. “Ella was known for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she served her chapter and peers,” he said.
