Three Athletes In Contention for Young Sports Star Award

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the upcoming Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

The three finalists have been celebrated for their exceptional achievements over the last year.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the very first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a record-breaking innings.

Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The three contenders were unveiled on a widely-listened-to radio show.

The 2025 recipient will be unveiled on the Sports Personality of the Year show on the 18th of December.

The event will be aired from seven in the evening GMT.

Agyemang's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She came off the bench to score key tying goals in both the knockout stage games.

Her incredible contributions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the top young European talent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

The Darts Prodigy

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in incredible form as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

He didn't stop there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the maiden occasion.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, shattering the previous record.

"Being nominated for this award again is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a highlight for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

Davina Perrin

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and surged to prominence with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin came in second place in the run-scoring charts and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.

"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it motivates more girls to get into cricket."
