Trump Calls Loved Ones of Attacked Military Members to White House

Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

The president stated he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump told the press. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Support

Mourners gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid policing efforts in DC.

She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the media. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to assist people.”

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and halt issuing entry permits to owners of travel documents.

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.
