Whenever a teenage creates club a historic moment in a crucial Champions League match against Manchester City, it inevitably draws acclaim and attention.
In only his first start in the tournament - and fifth game for the club - the young midfielder suitably impressed as the fifteen-time Champions League winners claimed a 3-0 round of 16 first leg lead at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The teenager, who also made his Real debut in the play-off round a month ago with a substitute appearance at Benfica, then assisted the Madrid side overcome the English Premier League side in Tuesday's second leg to confirm a quarter-final berth.
At 18 years old, Pitarch became the club's youngest player to begin two matches in the Champions League's latter rounds, beating star Vinicius Jr's record by a week and a half.
This talent is the most recent to come through from the famed youth system and is rapidly cementing himself as one of the manager's most exciting young players.
He joined Real from CD Leganes in the summer of 2023, having previously been with Atletico and Getafe's academies, and starting out for the under-19 side, where he quickly made a positive impact.
He worked his way up to the B team and it was during a friendly match in which they played against the academy's first team, then coached by the former defender, where the teenager is said to have caught the attention of the present manager, who replaced the previous coach in the new year.
Reports would later label the moment as "an instant connection," adding Pitarch excelled not only for his skill on the ball, but for the vitality, personality and determination he brought to the side.
During the summer of 2025, ex-manager Alonso called up Pitarch to practice with the first team and awarded him playing time during pre-season.
Yet, it was the change in manager that became the turning point in his development as he was introduced as a second-half replacement in each leg against the Portuguese side that set up the clash with Manchester City.
"I've dreamed of this each night when sleeping, the very first time I started playing football, each day you go to train and each day you have a game," said the player following his debut.
"I've just fulfilled my dream with the best team in the planet and in the best competition."
Handed a starting debut in the Spanish league against Getafe - where he spent four years after moving from Atleti in 2018 - he has kept his spot for the next four as injuries to Bellingham and Ceballos created an opening.
The teenager has seized it with performances that have defied his age and inexperience.
"He is a extremely fast footballer, and you can observe what he's capable of," remarked the coach. "He is extremely energetic, with excellent endurance, work-rate and mobility."
Pitarch's mentality has also impressed his coach.
"His standout trait is his personality," added Arbeloa. "He constantly demands the possession, and when pressed, he doesn't feel it.
"I realize people are astonished to see him start in a Champions League match, but he is selected because I had total confidence in him to do his normal game.
"Thiago will keep receiving chances with the main squad. It is delightful to coach a player like him."
Born in Fuenlabrada, in the Madrid region, and grew up deeply involved in the local game, progressing through local academies before entering Real Madrid's famous youth academy.
He holds both Spanish and Moroccan citizenship, giving him the option to play for either country at the highest level.
According to Fifa eligibility rules, players may appear for multiple nations at junior level without being permanently tied, with the ultimate choice only binding once they appear in a official full international.
He has featured for Spain at youth level, turning out for both the under-19 and under-20 teams, and took part in the 2025 Fifa Under-20 World Cup, where Spain made it to the last eight.
Nevertheless, he has yet to commit to either senior national team, who are monitoring his progress with keen attention.
Speaking recently, the player confirmed: "I haven't made my ultimate choice yet. Things are positive with the Spanish federation, but I will reach a conclusion soon."
His situation mirrors that of other bi-national talents such as Real team-mate Brahim Diaz and Barcelona forward Yamal. While 18-year-old Lamine chose Spain, Diaz opted to represent the Atlas Lions.
For now, Pitarch's focus is on establishing himself in the Madrid lineup and rewarding his manager's belief.
He played 74 minutes in the two-one victory at City, which completed a five-one aggregate success and a last-eight tie with the German champions.
His substitution by fellow youth graduate in Angel to emphasise Arbeloa's trust in the next generation to aid the club pursue future success.
Following his impressive impact so far on European football's biggest stage, the midfielder is expected to be a central figure in that.
"Arbeloa handles me the identical way. We handle it very naturally. I attempt not to overanalyze it excessively - I have to deserve my playing time on the field," he said after the success at Etihad Stadium.
